This issue’s guest editor, Charles Jardine, is arguably Britain’s foremost angler. He has written countless books, designed tackle, comped in the England squad, and in 2007 founded the educational programme Fishing for Schools.

In our quest to discover the world’s most exceptional fishing experiences, we travel from the UK’s tranquil chalkstreams to net the powerful kingfish in New Zealand and visit Canada’s Restigouche river in search of its legendary salmon. Back home, we are introduced to some of the most remote lakes in Wales – proof that you don’t have to travel thousands of miles to enjoy out-of-your-world angling. We also tackle some of the biggest issues our rivers are facing, with illuminating columns from writers such as actor Jim Murray, salmon expert Jonathan Muir and activist Charles Watson.
