Under REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) authorisation provisions Annex XIV, coal tar pitch was banned for use in the manufacture of clay pigeons in Europe from 4 October 2020.

Established in 1982, CCI manufactures more than 100 million clays each year to ISSF standards so were well placed to research and develop a brand new clay. Made in the UK, Eco clays have been extensively tested by CCI and endorsed by world champion clay shot George Digweed MBE. They are the same weight and size as the old coal tar pitch clays and perform the same way with very few ‘no birds'.

Eco clays also have a higher melting point compared to coal tar pitch which makes them even better for use in warmer climates like the Mediterranean.”
