New to the fieldsports market, Field & Moor offers a range of traditional hand-crafted boots that combine comfort for long days in the countryside with styling for men who like to be at the top of their game.
Field & Moor is committed to creating a range of long-lasting country footwear that offers a combination of comfort, craftsmanship and contemporary styling, utilising the owner’s 30-plus years of experience in the footwear industry for major global brands. With a keen interest in country sports and conservation, the owner was inspired to produce boots and shoes with character that would stand the test of time and extensive use.
British designs by Hannah Stiles helped create the range which is made in two small independent artisan factories that have operated for in excess of a combined total of 175 years in Spain, passing down the hand-crafted skills through the generations. Each factory prides itself on combining deep-rooted skills with precision and care to ensure products are crafted to the highest specifications. The manufacture of a single boot comprises over 120 processes, many of which require excellent hand-eye coordination and take a lifetime to master.
Both factories specialise in Goodyear welted and Storm welted constructions, too, one of the finest footwear constructions since 1869. Field & Moor work closely with the factories, as quality leathers are sourced from their local tanneries, individually chosen for their character and the value they bring to the product with the view of conservation and sustainability in mind. Durability and comfort remain at the brand’s core and their choice of linings and sole units lend themselves to the demands of a contemporary country lifestyle.
Each product in the Field & Moor range is named after British birds of prey and endowed with a quintessentially British sense of style. Above is the Tawny Owl boot, constructed with its distinctive royal Sandalo grain leather upper and hardwearing rubber sole unit, which is ideal for the gentleman who is seeking an elegant choice of footwear for formal, social and sporting occasions.
Golden Eagle model (above left) is ideal for gundog owners, equally at home on the daily exercise walk or in field trials, helping them to enjoy the countryside in all weathers. It has an elasticated gusset at the top to assist your foot into the boot, which is best done when sitting down as leg muscles are relaxed. The Hawk (above right) has a bellowed tongue that allows the foot to glide into the boot and has adjustable buckles on the side to secure the fitting around the calves. Both of these mid-calf country boots are around 12” tall, have a Sympatex breathable lining that helps its waterproofing properties and a Vibram commando sole unit which offers great traction. They’re also triple stitched, designed for strength and durability over many years of wear.
Above is the new style Osprey, available in late November, which is constructed from thick greased leather upper, also with a bellowed tongue, Symantex membrane and Vibram sole. The Sympatex waterproof membrane is also 100 per cent biodegradable in the long term, and allows the foot to breathe which regulates the temperature.
Each item of footwear from Field & Moor has a full leather insole and a cork lining that aids insulation in extreme temperatures, situated between the mid-sole and the outer sole unit. Indeed, all the styles are able to be re-soled which lends to the appeal of them being an item to treasure over many years.
While the boots are built to last, that doesn’t mean they are exempt from proper care and attention to realise their full longevity. Consequently, Field & Moor are offering complimentary shoe brushes to assist with maintenance with every purchase that are made from horsehair that will not scratch even the finest leathers.
Field & Moor is also a member of the Professional body the Society of Shoe-fitters – assuring you that any advice on fitting, care and choosing the footwear to meet your needs can be trusted.
